The Electric Chair Art Gallery

The Electric Chair Art Gallery was born into existence in the autumn of 2003 by artist and art collector Shilo Brown as an addition to his bookstore Book Beat & Co. which has been successfully in operation for the past 8 years and which has made its own mark in the world by specializing in oddities rarely seen in a state such as Oklahoma, carrying a wide range of books, videos, and music.

The Electric Chair Art Gallery's mission is to bring well respected underground and lowbrow artists of Oklahoma to the fore-front of the contemporary art scene of the world as a whole.

The Electric Chair Art Gallery showcases mostly paintings from figurative to very abstract. The art content ranges from folk to outsider to religious to sexually deviant. The gallery's main objective is to bring the rare and obscure, perhaps even the forbidden to the masses. There's nothing considered too shocking for The Electric Chair Art gallery, and they are willing to consider anything for showing.

The gallery shows a different artist every week with an opening reception that has been referred to as Oklahoma's happening event of the weekend.
